"Traveling is like falling in love. The world renews itself, opening the mind to possibilities once unimaginable." - Alain de Botton, The Art of Travel
Hello! I'm Amélia Tatiana Verão, but you can call me Taty 😉. I'm a passionate Architect and Urbanist about my profession. I was born in Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul, where I lived most of my life. Over the years, I had incredible moments, like the birth of my two children, Pedro and Amanda, who are now adults, aged 24 and 19 respectively. They are my great joy and pride. Seeing my children grow up and become wonderful people was one of the greatest joys of my life.
Despite having a stable career and being surrounded by love, I felt a growing restlessness within me. I've always loved my profession and devoted myself to the fullest, but something was telling me that it was time to seek new challenges. The daily routine and monotony began to suffocate me, and I longed for a change, for an adventure that would allow me to discover more about myself and the world around me.
I decided, thus, to take a bold step and leave my comfort zone. With the support of my children, who encouraged me to follow my heart, I embarked on a vacation journey without a set return date to Brazil. The purpose was simple: to travel, explore new places, and experience enriching moments.
While I was still planning in Brazil, something unexpected happened. A dear friend who lives in New York invited me to spend a few days in her apartment in Queens. The opportunity to live in one of the most incredible cities in the world filled me with excitement, and at the same time, the possibility of working remotely allowed me to keep up with my professional responsibilities.
I arrived in New York and fell in love again with the grandeur and diversity of the city. Every street was a discovery, and the city's frenetic pace was contagious. My friend's apartment became my temporary home, and I felt like I was living a dream.
Being away from my comfort zone and everything I knew made me reconsider my life and priorities. I allowed myself to explore my hobbies and personal passions, like photography and writing, and this brought me a sense of fulfillment and wholeness that I had never felt before.
At 41 years old, I discovered that it's never too late to pursue our dreams and seek a more meaningful life. Being a digital nomad showed me that I can balance my career with my desire to explore the world and live new experiences. New York has become a symbol of freedom and self-discovery for me, and each day in this vibrant city inspires me to keep seeking the unknown.
My story is proof that even with an established career, we can make a turn in our lives and seek our happiness. The open-ended vacation journey turned into a transformative adventure, leading me to discover a new version of myself in each new city and showing me that life is an adventure waiting to be lived. I am the Nomad Architect, and my story is just beginning.
